What is the scariest book you have EVER read?

I have been reading horror for 15 years and very few books genuinely scare me anymore. House of Leaves messed me up for weeks. The Troop made me physically ill (in a good way?). What books actually kept you up at night?

Pet Sematary is King at his most emotionally devastating. The grief horror combo is brutal.

The world-building alone makes this worth reading. So immersive!

This made me emotional in ways I wasn't expecting. Caught me off guard.

The Ruins by Scott Smith. Plants should not be that terrifying but here we are.

The sequel is even better IMO. Rare for book series these days.

Mexican Gothic gave me nightmares for a week. The atmosphere is OPPRESSIVE.
