Yiyun Li is a celebrated author and educator. Born in Beijing, China, she relocated to the United States in 1996, where she pursued her passion for writing. She earned MFAs from the University of Iowa's esteemed Iowa Writers' Workshop and creative nonfiction writing program. Her work has been featured in prominent publications, including The New Yorker and The Paris Review. Li's writing has garnered significant recognition, including a Whiting Writers' Award and a Lannan Foundation residency in Marfa, TX. Her debut collection, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won multiple prestigious awards, solidifying her position as a rising star in literary circles. Currently, she resides in Oakland, California, with her family, and teaches at the University of California, Davis.
