Walter Dean Myers Books in Order

Walter Dean Myers is a renowned author of children's and young adult literature. Born on August 12, 1937, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he moved to Harlem with his foster parents at the age of three. Myers grew up and attended public school in Harlem, later attending Stuyvesant High School until age seventeen, when he joined the army. After serving four years, he worked various jobs and earned a BA from Empire State College, eventually dedicating himself to full-time writing in 1977. Myers has penned over seventy books for children and young adults, earning numerous accolades, including five Coretta Scott King Awards, two Newbery Honors, and the Margaret A. Edwards Award. His notable works, Monster and Autobiography of My Dead Brother, were National Book Award Finalists, and Monster received the first Michael Printz Award for Young Adult literature from the American Library Association.
