Virginia Cleo Andrews is a renowned American author born on June 6, 1923, in Portsmouth, Virginia. As the youngest child and only daughter of a naval career family, Andrews spent her early years in Portsmouth and later in Rochester, New York. However, her family returned to Portsmouth when Virginia was in high school. Tragedy struck during her teenage years when she suffered severe back injuries from a fall down the stairs at school. Despite this, Andrews persevered, excelling in her studies and earning a scholarship at the age of fifteen for her writing parody of Tennyson's <i>Idylls of the King</i>. She proudly graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. As a prolific author, Andrews wrote under various names, including Virginia Andrews, V. Andrews, Virginia C. Andrews, and V.C. Endrius. Her notable works include a range of bestselling novels that captivated readers worldwide. Although Andrews passed away, her legacy continues through the works of Andrew Neiderman, who ghostwrites under the V.C. Andrews name.
