Terri Windling is an American editor, artist, essayist, and acclaimed author of books for both children and adults. She has won nine World Fantasy Awards, the Mythopoeic Award, and the Bram Stoker Award, with her collection The Armless Maiden shortlisted for the James Tiptree, Jr. Award. Windling's significant contributions to the speculative fiction field have been honored with SFWA's Solstice Award in 2010, a life achievement award. Her work has been translated into numerous languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Lithuanian, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, and Korean. As a pioneering force in the American publishing field, Windling has driven the mythic fiction resurgence since the early 1980s through her innovative editing for Ace and Tor Books, the 'Fairy Tales' series, and over thirty anthologies of magical fiction. She is also recognized as one of the founders of the urban fantasy genre, having published and promoted the first novels of Charles de Lint, Emma Bull, and other pioneers.
