Tara Westover is a critically acclaimed American author now residing in the UK. Born in Idaho to a father who rejected public education, she grew up isolated from formal learning, instead dedicating her days to working in her father's junkyard or assisting her mother, a self-taught herbalist and midwife. She took her first steps in academia at seventeen, and in a remarkable academic journey, she pursued higher education with unwavering dedication. Westover earned a BA from Brigham Young University in 2008 and secured a prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship. She went on to earn an MPhil from Trinity College, Cambridge in 2009, and in 2010, she was a visiting fellow at Harvard University. Her academic pursuits culminated in a PhD in history from Cambridge in 2014.
