Shion Miura is a celebrated Japanese author born in 1976, the daughter of a renowned classics scholar. Her passion for reading was instilled at a young age, and her writing talent was discovered by a literary agent while she was still a senior at Waseda University. Before graduating, Miura began writing an online book review column, marking the beginning of her illustrious writing career. She made her fiction debut in 2000 with the novel Kakuto suru mono ni maru, based on her own experiences during the job hunt. Miura's subsequent works include the linked-story collection Mahoro ekimae Tada Benriken, which earned her the Naoki Prize in 2006, and the novels Kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru, Kogure-so monogatari, and Fune o amu.
