Samuel R. Delany Books in Order
Samuel R. Delany is an award-winning American science fiction author known for his groundbreaking works. Born to a prominent black family in Harlem on April 1, 1942, Delany draws inspiration from his childhood in the vibrant urban landscape. His mother, Margaret Carey Boyd Delany, was a dedicated library clerk, and his father, Samuel Ray Delany, Senior, ran a respected funeral home in Harlem. Delany's aunts, Sadie and Bessie, were also influential figures, and their adventures are woven into his stories, such as the novella "Atlantis: Model 1924" in "Atlantis: Three Tales." Delany attended the Dalton School and the Bronx High School of Science, where he was selected for the prestigious Camp Rising Sun program. A published author at 20, Delany quickly established himself with nine critically acclaimed science fiction novels between 1962 and 1968, as well as numerous prize-winning short stories.
