Robert Thorogood is a renowned English screenwriter, celebrated for crafting the beloved BBC 1 Murder Mystery Series, Death in Paradise. Educated at Uppingham School and Downing College, Cambridge, he honed his creative skills as a member of the university's esteemed Footlights comedy troupe, serving as President in 1994. Following his tenure at Cambridge, Thorogood co-founded a theatre company, producing and performing in notable productions, including Molière's The Miser alongside notable talents like Robert Webb and Olivia Colman. With a storied career spanning script sales to the BBC, ITV, and independent film companies, Thorogood's breakthrough came with the 2011 broadcast of his Radio 4 play, From Abstraction, marking his first TV broadcast credit at 39. Subsequently, his concept, Copper in the Caribbean, was picked up by Tony Jordan, paving the way for his critically acclaimed Death in Paradise series. Thorogood's success extends beyond television, as he has also ventured into novel writing, partnering with MIRA Harlequin to create the Richard Poole Murder Mystery series, beginning with the 2015 publication of the first novel.
