Reginald Charles Hill is a renowned English crime writer, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to the genre. He is the winner of the prestigious Crime Writers' Association Cartier Diamond Dagger for Lifetime Achievement, awarded in 1995. Following his National Service and studies in English at St Catherine's College, Oxford University, Hill embarked on a teaching career, eventually rising to the position of Senior Lecturer at Doncaster College of Education. In 1980, he transitioned to a full-time writing career, where he has since thrived. Hill is best known for his extensive series featuring Yorkshire detectives Andrew Dalziel, Peter Pascoe, and Edgar Wield. He has penned over 20 novels in this series, as well as more than 30 other novels, including the Joe Sixsmith series.
