Randall Kenan Books in Order

Randall Kenan is a celebrated American writer, educator, and literary critic. His critically acclaimed first novel, A Visitation of Spirits, was published in 1989 by Grove Press, followed by the short story collection Let the Dead Bury Their Dead in 1992 from Harcourt, Brace. The latter earned him a National Book Critics Circle Award nomination and a spot among The New York Times Notable Books of 1992. Kenan has also written a young adult biography of James Baldwin and collaborated on the book of photographs A Time Not Here: The Mississippi Delta. His non-fiction work Walking on Water: Black American Lives at the Turn of the Twenty-First Century, published in 1999, was nominated for the Southern Book Award. His latest book, The Fire This Time, was published in 2007. Currently, Kenan is working on a novel set in North Carolina and New York City, as well as a book about the North Carolina hog industry.
