Patricia Moyes is a renowned mystery novelist and screenwriter, born in Dublin on 19 January 1923. She was educated at Overstone girls' school in Northampton and joined the WAAF in 1939. Moyes's career took a dramatic turn in 1946 when she was hired by Peter Ustinov as a technical assistant on his film School for Secrets, a position she held for eight years. In 1960, she wrote the screenplay for School for Scoundrels, starring Ian Carmichael, Terry-Thomas, and Alastair Sim. Moyes's mystery novels feature C.I.D. Inspector Henry Tibbett, whose series has garnered international acclaim. Notably, her novel Who Saw Her Die was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1971.
