Naomi Novik is a celebrated author of fantasy literature, whose passion for the genre began at age six with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Her historical interests, particularly the Napoleonic era, are complemented by a deep appreciation for the works of Patrick O'Brian and Jane Austen. Novik holds a degree in English literature from Brown University and pursued graduate studies in computer science at Columbia University. Before transitioning to a full-time writing career, she contributed to the design of the popular video game Neverwinter Nights: Shadow of Undrentide. This experience ultimately led her to prioritize writing, and she now resides in New York City with her husband.
