As a University researcher, he delved into obscure historical topics, while as a social worker with Vietnamese refugees, he composed crucial memos. As creative director of an advertising agency, he crafted compelling print and press ads, TV commercials, short films, and digital content. His extensive career has spanned 25 years in various global cities, including London, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, and Shanghai, earning accolades from esteemed festivals such as Cannes, One Show, D&AD, New York and London Festivals, and the United Nations. His experiences in Shanghai inspired a series of crime novels featuring Inspector Pyotr Danilov, set in 1920s and 1930s. When not writing, Lee divides his time between the UK and Asia, cherishing moments with his daughter, practicing his unique hobbies, and indulging in his love for fine wine.
