Miriam Toews Books in Order

Miriam Toews is a celebrated Canadian writer of Mennonite descent. She grew up in Steinbach, Manitoba, and has lived in Montreal and London, before settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Toews studied at the University of Manitoba and the University of King's College in Halifax, where she honed her writing skills. As a freelance journalist, she has worked for newspapers and radio stations, showcasing her versatility as a storyteller. Her non-fiction book "Swing Low: A Life" is a poignant memoir of her father's struggle with lifelong depression. Her breakthrough novel, "A Complicated Kindness" (2004), spent over a year on the Canadian bestseller lists and won the Governor General's Award for English Fiction. This novel, which explores themes of identity and belonging, was also nominated for the Giller Prize and was the winning title in the 2006 edition of Canada Reads.
