Mick Finlay is a multifaceted author and academic, whose experiences as a travelling circus tent hand, butcher's boy, hotel porter, and psychologist in the NHS and social services have infused his writing with a unique blend of wit and insight. As a Psychology Department lecturer, he has published research on topics such as political violence, persuasion, and non-verbal behaviour. Finlay draws on his broad reading in history, psychology, and fiction to craft compelling stories that span genres. His debut novel, 'Arrowood', a historical crime fiction set in Victorian London, has been published by HQ (Harper Collins) in the UK and Mira in the USA, with translations available in numerous countries. The sequel, 'The Murder Pit', was released in 2019 to critical acclaim, with praise from The Times for its energy, wit, and vivid portrayal of Victorian London.
