Michelle Black Books in Order
Michelle Black is a prolific author of the Victorian West, renowned for her bestselling novels. Her latest, Séance in Sepia, debuted in October 2011, featuring real-life feminist firebrand Victoria Woodhull as its protagonist. Currently residing in a Queen Anne Victorian home near Boulder, Colorado, Black weaves historical fiction with a deep respect for the past. Born in Kansas, Black pursued a multidisciplinary education, studying anthropology in college and law school, where she graduated with honors. In 1993, she relocated to Colorado and dedicated herself to fiction writing. Prior to establishing herself as an author, Black owned a bookstore in Frisco, Colorado, and immersed herself in the local community for three years. Black's passion for preserving Native American languages led her to study the Cheyenne language and collaborate with linguists on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. Her company, WinterSun Press, published the "Let's Talk Cheyenne" course, a not-for-profit initiative to save the Cheyenne language from extinction. A travel enthusiast, Black is drawn to the "homes and haunts" of literary icons, including Hemingway's Key West, the Bronte sisters' Yorkshire Moors, and Jane Austen's Bath. Her spiritual journeys have taken her to India, where she spent weeks studying with secular Buddhist writer Stephen Batchelor.
