Sir Michael Edward Palin, KCMG, CBE, FRGS is a renowned English comedian, actor, writer, and television presenter. As a founding member of Monty Python, he has become synonymous with some of the most iconic comedy sketches, including "The Dead Parrot", "The Lumberjack Song", "The Spanish Inquisition", and "Spam". Alongside Terry Jones, Palin co-wrote material for Monty Python, as well as the series Ripping Yarns. He has also appeared in numerous films, including A Fish Called Wanda, for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Fellow comedians and insiders voted him the 30th favourite comedian in a 2005 poll. Palin's subsequent career as a travel writer has taken him to the world's most remote and inhospitable regions, including the North and South Poles, the Sahara desert, and the Himalayas. He was knighted in 2000 for his services to television.
