Melissa Lenhardt is a versatile and accomplished author of women's fiction, mystery, and historical fiction. Her critically acclaimed debut mystery, STILLWATER, garnered attention as a finalist for the 2014 Whidbey Writers' MFA Alumni Emerging Writers Contest, while her historical fiction debut, SAWBONES, was praised by Lone Star Literary Life as a "thoroughly original, smart and satisfying hybrid, perhaps a new sub-genre: the feminist Western." The New York Times hailed her sixth novel, HERESY, as "An all-out women-driven, queer, transgender, multiracial takeover of the Old West." With her seventh novel, THE SECRET OF YOU & ME, a contemporary women's fiction novel, released in 2020, Lenhardt continues to push boundaries in her writing. A lifelong Texan, she resides in the Dallas area with her family and two Golden Retrievers.
