Born in Austin, she grew up in Bryan/College Station, Texas, where she developed a passion for storytelling from a young age. After attending the University of Texas at Austin, Moyer held a range of jobs, including working as a secretary to renowned animal scientists, a newsletter editor, and assistant to the late Karl Folkers, a pioneer in coenzyme Q-10 research. As a writer, Moyer's fiction has garnered recognition, including a three-month residency from the Syvenna Foundation for women writers in northeast Texas. Her breakthrough came with the publication of The Second Coming of Lucy Hatch and its sequel, The Last of the Honky-tonk Angels, which was acquired by William Morrow in 2001.
