Margot Livesey Books in Order

Margot Livesey is a celebrated author known for her captivating novels and short stories. Born in the Scottish Highlands, where her father taught at a boys' private school and her mother served as the school nurse, Livesey developed a passion for writing. She earned a Bachelor's degree in English and philosophy from the University of York in England before embarking on a career in writing. Her debut collection, Learning By Heart, was published by Penguin Canada in 1986, followed by seven novels: Homework, Criminals, The Missing World, Eva Moves the Furniture, Banishing Verona, The House on Fortune Street, and The Flight of Gemma Hardy. Livesey's eighth novel, Mercury, was released in 2016 by HarperCollins. A sought-after teacher, she has held positions at several esteemed institutions, including Boston University and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop.
