Louis Sachar Books in Order
Louis Sachar is a renowned American author of children's books, known for his unique storytelling style and engaging narratives. Born in 1954 in East Meadow, New York, he later moved to Tustin, California, at the age of nine. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, where he majored in economics, Sachar went on to write his debut book, Sideways Stories from Wayside School, while working at a sweater warehouse. He eventually attended Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, publishing his first book during his law studies. After graduating in 1980, Sachar worked part-time as a lawyer and continued to write, eventually quitting law to focus on his writing career. His wife, Carla, a former elementary school counselor, inspired many of his characters, including the counselor in There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom.
