Lisa Jewell is a bestselling British author born in London in 1968. Raised in the northernmost reaches of the city with her two younger sisters, Jewell was educated at a Catholic girls' Grammar school in Finchley. After completing her secondary education, she pursued further studies at Barnet College and the Epsom School of Art & Design, where she honed her skills in Fashion Illustration and Communication. Jewell's writing career began with her debut novel, Ralph's Party, which was written in 1996 for a bet and published by Penguin books in 1998, becoming that year's best-selling debut novel. Since then, she has penned ten more novels, with an eleventh currently in the works. Jewell resides in an inner London neighborhood with her husband, Jascha, an IT consultant, and their two daughters, Amelie and Evie.
