Len Deighton Books in Order
Len Deighton is a multifaceted author, illustrator, and film producer. Born in Marylebone, London in 1929, his diverse background has greatly influenced his career. He initially worked as a railway clerk, before serving his National Service as a photographer for the Royal Air Force's Special Investigation Branch. Following his discharge, Deighton studied at St Martin's School of Art in London, and later won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1955. As an artist, Deighton worked as an illustrator, creating notable covers, including the first British cover for Jack Kerouac's <i>On the Road</i>. He also worked as an art director in a London advertising agency and produced illustrated cookbooks as <i>The Observer's</i> cookery writer. His writing career took off with the success of his novels, leading to a range of creative pursuits, including travel guides and a stint as travel editor of <i>Playboy</i>. Deighton has also ventured into film production, adapting his work into cinematic experiences.
