Lawrence Block Books in Order
Lawrence Block is a celebrated author of crime, mystery, and suspense fiction with a career spanning over five decades. He has authored more than 100 books and numerous short stories. Born in Buffalo, New York, Block attended Antioch College before leaving to pursue his writing career, which he was encouraged to do by the college's authorities. Block's early work, published under pseudonyms, was primarily in the field of midcentury erotica, a genre he shared with notable authors Donald E. Westlake and Robert Silverberg. His first published story, "You Can't Lose," appeared in the February 1958 issue of Manhunt, marking the beginning of his writing career. Block's first book, Mona (1961), was reissued several times, including as Sweet Slow Death, and later as Grifter's Game by Hard Case Crime in 2005.
