Koushun Takami Books in Order

Koushun Takami is a renowned Japanese author, best known for his thought-provoking novel Battle Royale. Initially published in Japanese, it was later translated into English by Yuji Oniki and released by Viz Media, followed by an expanded edition by Haika Soru, a division of Viz Media. Born in Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture near Osaka, Takami grew up in the Kagawa Prefecture of Shikoku. After graduating from Osaka University with a degree in literature, he pursued a career in journalism, working for Shikoku Shimbun from 1991 to 1996. Reporting on various fields, including politics, police reports, and economics, Takami's experiences greatly influenced his writing. After leaving Shikoku Shimbun, he completed Battle Royale, which, despite being rejected from a literary competition due to its controversial content, went on to become a bestseller in 1999.
