Kingsley Amis Books in Order
Kingsley William Amis, CBE, is a renowned English novelist, poet, critic, and teacher. He has authored numerous notable works, including over twenty novels, three collections of poetry, short stories, radio and television scripts, and books of social and literary criticism. Notably, he is the father of celebrated English novelist Martin Amis. Born in Clapham, Wandsworth, London, Amis began his education at the City of London School and later attended St. John's College, Oxford, where he met Philip Larkin, a lifelong friend and fellow writer. After serving as a lieutenant in the Royal Corps of Signals during World War II, Amis returned to Oxford to complete his degree, earning a first in English in 1947. He has since dedicated much of his time to writing, and has penned works under the pseudonyms Robert Markham and William Tanner.
