Ken Follett is one of the world's most successful authors, with over 165 million copies of his 31 books sold in more than 80 countries and 33 languages. Born on June 5, 1949, in Cardiff, Wales, Ken was educated at state schools and graduated from University College, London, with an Honours degree in Philosophy, later becoming a Fellow of the College in 1995. He began his career as a reporter, writing for the South Wales Echo and the London Evening News, before joining a small London publishing house, Everest Books, where he rose to the position of Deputy Managing Director. Ken's latest book, A Column of Fire, is a historical novel set in 16th-century England, a sequel to The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, published in September 2017. His Century Trilogy has sold 22 million copies worldwide, chronicling five generations on three continents through three books. Ken's breakthrough novel, Eye of the Needle, was published in 1978, a World War II thriller set in England, which earned him the 1979 Edgar Award for Best Novel from the Mystery Writers of America. This remains one of his most popular books, alongside his other notable works.
