Kat Falls resides in Evanston, IL, with her husband, renowned theater director Robert Falls, and their three children. She hails from Silver Spring, MD, and earned her undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Falls later received an MFA from Northwestern University, where she currently teaches creative writing. As the author of the middle-grade science fiction novels Dark Life and Rip Tide, Falls has garnered widespread acclaim for her unique blend of underwater adventure and Wild West storytelling. Her breakout novel, Dark Life (Scholastic, 2010), was born from a writing exercise, combining her son's passions for the ocean, pioneers, and superheroes. The novel has since been nominated for numerous children's book awards, translated into 17 languages, and featured on Al Roker's Book Club on the Today Show. Dark Life is currently in development for film at Disney, produced by The Gotham Group.
