J.T. Edson Books in Order
J.T. Edson is a renowned English writer of Westerns, with a career spanning decades. Born in 1928, his passion for the genre was ignited at a young age, and he spent countless hours reimagining and rewriting his favorite cowboy movies. A schoolteacher's encouragement played a significant role in nurturing his writing talent, which he continues to hone in Leicester, Leicestershire. Edson's experiences as a Dog Trainer in His Majesty's Armed Forces greatly influenced his writing, particularly during his 12-year tenure. Cooped up in barracks, he devoured the works of notable escapist writers and watched iconic Western films starring John Wayne and Audie Murphy. His first published work, "Hints On Self-Preservation when attacked by a War Dog," appeared in the Osnabrück camp magazine Shufti in 1947. With the acquisition of a typewriter in the early 1950s, Edson's creativity flourished, and he penned 10 Westerns, an early version of Bunduki, and the first of the Waco detective-type stories. His writing career gained momentum when he won second prize in the Western division of a Literary Competition, leading to the publication of 46 novels, including Trail Boss.
