Joy Harjo Books in Order

Joy Harjo is a renowned poet, musician, and performance artist, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a member of the Mvskoke Nation. With a distinct voice in both literature and music, she has released four award-winning CD's of original music, earning a Native American Music Award (NAMMY) for Best Female Artist of the Year. Her performances span the globe, from solo appearances to collaborations with her band, The Arrow Dynamics. Harjo has shared her work on HBO's Def Poetry Jam, in major U.S. cities, and internationally, including a recent performance at the Chan Centre at UBC in Vancouver, BC. Her one-woman show, Wings of Night Sky, Wings of Morning Light, has been showcased in various venues, including Joe's Pub in New York City and the University of British Columbia. A celebrated poet, Harjo has written seven books of poetry, including How We Became Human- New and Selected Poems and She Had Some Horses. Her awards and honors include the New Mexico Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers Circle of the Americas, and the William Carlos Williams Award from the Poetry Society of America.
