John Ehle Books in Order

John Ehle is a celebrated American author, born in 1925 in the North Carolina mountains, which served as the inspiration for many of his novels and nonfiction works. Ehle's distinguished writing career spans multiple genres, from plays to novels. A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alumnus, he honed his craft while serving as a playwright for the NBC radio series American Adventure. His decade-long tenure as a university professor preceded his role as a key advisor to North Carolina Governor Terry Sanford, where he functioned as the governor's "one-man think tank" from 1962 to 1964. Ehle's notable literary output includes eleven novels, including his acclaimed Mountain Novels cycle, and six works of nonfiction. His daughter, actress Jennifer Ehle, is also an accomplished artist, and his wife, actress Rosemary Harris, shares his creative legacy.
