John D. MacDonald Books in Order

John D. MacDonald is a celebrated author, born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and educated at the Universities of Pennsylvania, Syracuse, and Harvard, where he earned an MBA in 1939. MacDonald's distinguished military career rose to the rank of Colonel during World War II, and he served in the Office of Strategic Services in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. Following the war, he embarked on a writing career, producing over 500 short stories and 70 novels, including the iconic 21 Travis McGee novels.
