John Berendt Books in Order

John Berendt is a critically acclaimed author known for his meticulously researched and captivating non-fiction works. Born to a family of writers, he was raised in Syracuse, New York, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Harvard University, where he honed his writing skills as a staff member of The Harvard Lampoon. Following his graduation in 1961, Berendt transitioned to a career in publishing, serving as editor of New York magazine from 1977 to 1979 and contributing a monthly column to Esquire from 1982 to 1994. His first encounters with Savannah in the early 1980s sparked a lifelong fascination, leading him to spend increasing amounts of time in the city, eventually finding a new home there.
