Jewell Parker Rhodes Books in Order

Jewell Parker Rhodes is a celebrated author, storyteller, and educator. Born in Manchester, a vibrant African-American neighborhood on Pittsburgh's North Side, she nurtured a lifelong passion for reading and writing from a young age. After initially pursuing a dance major in college, Rhodes discovered the power of novels written by and for African Americans, igniting her desire to become an author. She has since published numerous award-winning works, including the New York Times bestseller Ghost Boys and her middle grade novel Black Brother, Black Brother. A prolific writer, Rhodes has also penned six adult novels, two writing guides, and a memoir. As the Piper Endowed Chair and Founding Artistic Director of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at Arizona State University, she dedicates her time to teaching writing and engaging with young readers. Her work has been recognized with esteemed honors, including the American Book Award, the National Endowment of the Arts Award, and two Arizona Book Awards.
