Jean-Claude Izzo is a French author, celebrated for his evocative noir novels, particularly the Marseilles Trilogy: Total Chaos, Chourmo, and Solea. These critically acclaimed works, translated into English by Howard Curtis, follow ex-cop Fabio Montale as he navigates the gritty streets of Marseille, Izzo's hometown. Born to an Italian father and a Spanish mother, Izzo's diverse heritage has deeply influenced his writing. A talented and driven individual, he excelled academically and began writing at a young age. After working in a bookstore and as a campaigner for Pax Christi, he served in the military, where he honed his skills as a photographer and journalist for the military newspaper.
