Steinberg earned both her B.A. and M.A. from the University of California-Irvine, where she met her husband, Jack Cassidy. Throughout her career, Steinberg has navigated a diverse array of professions, including urban planning, public relations, grant writing, journalism, editing, and teaching. As a freelancer for Advertising Age, she earned the nickname "Queen of the Sidebar."
