Janice Maynard's writing career spans a lifetime of creative expression. She began writing at a tender age, winning her first red ribbon in a third-grade school arts fair for the short story "The Princess and the Robbers." Maynard's passion for storytelling only grew stronger, as evident in her sixth-grade submission, "Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke," which earned her a coveted six-pack of Coke. As a junior high student, she shared her work with a wider audience, circulating notebook pages filled with riveting tales. In high school, Maynard took on the role of editor of the school newspaper, The Maroon and White, penning insightful editorials on topics like locker room odor and bathroom tissue. After college, she pursued a career as an elementary teacher, but never abandoned her writing dreams. In 1996, her first book, Sweetheart, was acquired by Kensington Publishing, launching her successful writing career. Maynard has since published multiple titles in the Precious Gem line, cementing her status as a beloved author.
