Jane Langton Books in Order
Jane Langton is a celebrated author of children's literature and mystery novels. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she pursued her passion for the arts and humanities, studying astronomy at Wellesley College and the University of Michigan, where she received her bachelor's degree in 1944. Langton furthered her education with master's degrees in art history from the University of Michigan and Radcliffe College. Her creative pursuits led her to study at the Boston Museum School from 1958 to 1959. Langton's writing career began with the 1961 publication of The Majesty of Grace, a children's book she wrote and illustrated. She went on to create the beloved children's series, The Hall Family Chronicles, and the popular Homer Kelly murder mystery novels. Her standalone novels and picture books have captivated readers of all ages. Notable works include The Fledgling, a Newbery Honor book, and Emily Dickinson is Dead, nominated for an Edgar Award and receiving a Nero Award. The Face on the Wall was an editors' choice selection by The Drood Review of Mystery in 1998. Langton currently resides in Lincoln, Massachusetts, drawing inspiration from the surroundings that have influenced many of her novels.
