Jack D. Hunter Books in Order
Jack D. Hunter is a renowned author and veteran of World War II, born in Hamilton, Ohio, on June 4, 1921, to Whitney G. and Irene Dayton Hunter. Despite his red-green blindness, his father's career as a paint color evaluator was ironic, as Hunter himself struggled with color perception throughout his life. Hunter graduated with a BA in journalism from Penn State University in 1943, before joining the U.S. Army during World War II. Due to his color vision deficiency, he was reassigned to counter-intelligence, where he utilized his German language skills, acquired through self-study and college coursework, to excel. As a 24-year-old lieutenant, Hunter engineered "Operation Nursery," a sting operation that led to the arrest of over 1,000 Nazi plotters in a single night, earning him the Bronze Star. His experiences inform his nonfiction book, "The Axmann Conspiracy," published in 2012 by Berkley Books.
