Ian Rankin Books in Order
Ian Rankin is a renowned Scottish author, best known for his crime fiction novels featuring the iconic detective Inspector Rebus. Born in the Kingdom of Fife in 1960, he graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1982 and went on to pursue a writing career, initially sidestepping a PhD in Scottish Literature to focus on his craft. His first Rebus novel, published in 1987, launched a global phenomenon, with translations in 22 languages and bestseller status on multiple continents. A respected voice in the literary world, Ian Rankin has been elected a Hawthornden Fellow and has received the Chandler-Fulbright Award, two Dagger Awards, and an OBE for services to literature. He has also been honored with honorary degrees from the universities of Abertay, St Andrews, and Edinburgh.
