Ian Morson is a British author known for his historical fiction novels. Born in 1947 in Derby, he grew up in a working-class family with strong ties to the local community. Educated at a local grammar school, where he excelled academically and developed a passion for languages, particularly Russian. He won a scholarship to study at Oxford University, immersing himself in the world of folk music and becoming president of the Heritage Society. After completing his studies, Morson worked as a librarian, eventually rising to a senior position in public libraries. He began writing in his 40s, publishing his first novel, a Falconer series book, at 47. Now living in Mevagissey, Cornwall, Morson balances his writing career with a passion for conservation and the arts, directing and performing for the local St Austell Players. His novels often explore the human experience, weaving together historical and fictional elements to create engaging stories.
