H.W. Brands is a renowned historian, professor, and author, weaving a rich tapestry of American history through his prolific writings. Born in Portland, Oregon, he embarked on a journey of discovery that led him to California for college, where he studied history and mathematics at Stanford University. As a traveling salesman, his wanderlust eventually gave way to a passion for teaching, and he spent nine years imparting his knowledge of mathematics and history to high school and community college students.
