Gerald Durrell Books in Order

Gerald "Gerry" Malcolm Durrell is a renowned British naturalist, zookeeper, and television presenter. Born in India in 1925, he is the younger brother of celebrated writers Lawrence Durrell, Leslie Durrell, and Margaret Durrell. Durrell's childhood on the Greek island of Corfu, surrounded by its diverse wildlife, profoundly shaped his writing career. His Corfu trilogy, which includes "My Family and Other Animals," "Birds, Beasts and Relatives," and "The Garden of the Gods," showcases his wry humour and keen insight into both human and animal nature. Durrell's subsequent adventures as a student keeper at Whipsnade Park and his own animal-collecting expeditions have been chronicled in numerous books, such as "Beasts in My Belfry" and "The Drunken Forest." Durrell has also produced several television series, including "An Amateur Naturalist," and has established the Jersey Zoological Park and the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust, fulfilling his lifelong dream in 1958.
