Georges Simenon is one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century, renowned for his incredible output of 60 to 80 pages per day. His vast oeuvre comprises nearly 200 novels, over 150 novellas, several autobiographical works, numerous articles, and scores of pulp novels written under more than two dozen pseudonyms. A staggering 550 million copies of his works have been printed worldwide. He is best known for his 75 novels and 28 short stories featuring Commissaire Maigret, a iconic detective series that spans several decades. The series was translated into all major languages, adapted into films, radio plays, and television series in Great Britain, cementing Simenon's global reputation. During his "American" period, he reached the height of his creative powers, producing novels like Trois chambres à Manhattan and Maigret à New York.
