Garry Disher is a prolific Australian author born in 1949. He spent his formative years on his family's farm in South Australia. Disher holds postgraduate degrees from the esteemed institutions of Adelaide and Melbourne Universities. In 1978, he secured a creative writing fellowship to Stanford University, where he crafted his debut short story collection. Disher has since traversed the globe, absorbing diverse influences and experiences that have shaped his writing. Upon his return to Australia, he turned to teaching creative writing, before finally dedicating himself to a full-time writing career in 1988.
