Francine Mathews Books in Order

Mathews grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, a historic Catholic institution that fostered her love of learning. At Princeton University, Mathews excelled in journalism, fencing, and European History, earning an Arthur W. Mellon Foundation Fellowship in the Humanities. Under the tutelage of Pulitzer Prize-winning author John McPhee, she refined her writing skills in "The Literature of Fact" course. Mathews pursued a doctorate in history at Stanford University, later transitioning to a career in writing.
