Erich von Däniken, a renowned Swiss author, was born on April 14th, 1935, in Zofingen, Switzerland, where he was educated at the College St-Michel in Fribourg. As a student, he devoted himself to the study of ancient holy writings, laying the foundation for his future career as a writer. While managing director of a Swiss hotel, von Däniken penned his seminal work, Chariots of the Gods, which catapulted him to international fame, topping bestseller lists in the United States, Germany, and 38 other countries. His prolific output has been translated into 28 languages, selling over 60 million copies worldwide. Two full-length documentary films, Chariots of the Gods and Messages of the Gods, have been produced based on his books. A seasoned researcher and traveler, von Däniken has delivered over 3,000 lectures in 25 countries, with more than 500 presentations at universities.
