Elif Shafak is a renowned British-Turkish novelist and one of the most widely read female authors in Turkey. She writes in both Turkish and English, having published seventeen books, including eleven novels. Her work has been translated into fifty languages. Holding a PhD in political science, Shafak has taught at various universities in Turkey, the US, and the UK, including St Anne's College, Oxford University, where she serves as an honorary fellow. As a member of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Creative Economy and a founding member of ECFR (European Council on Foreign Relations), Shafak advocates for women's rights, LGBT rights, and freedom of speech. A sought-after public speaker, she has twice received a standing ovation as a TED Global speaker.
