Dr. Seuss Books in Order
Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, is a celebrated author and illustrator, born in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. A Dartmouth College alumnus, he pursued a doctorate in literature at Oxford University, where he met his wife, Helen Palmer, and they wed in 1927. Returning to America, Dr. Seuss began his career as a cartoonist and writer for prominent magazines, including Judge, Life, Vanity Fair, and Liberty. His witty works, often referencing his association with the insecticide Flit, earned him a 17-year contract and national recognition. His breakthrough novel, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was initially rejected by 43 publishers before finding moderate success in 1937. During World War II, Dr. Seuss served in the army, creating iconic works, including documentaries and cartoons, and winning numerous awards, including Oscars for Hitler Lives, Design for Death, and Gerald McBoing-Boing.
